Ryan Holiday is a media strategist and prominent writer on strategy and business. After dropping out of college at nineteen to apprentice under Robert Greene, author of The 48 Laws of Power, Ryan went on to advise many bestselling authors and multiplatinum musicians. He served as director of marketing at American Apparel for many years where his campaigns have been used as case studies by Twitter, YouTube, and Google and written about in AdAge, the New York Times, and Fast Company.

Book Research Interview turned podcast. Catch a glimpse into Ryan Holiday's writing and research process. And maybe even a glimpse into my own. We got to talking about how this culture and our lives have gotten too busy and how we can step back from it all and gain some clarity. I think I realized more about myself after reflecting on the conversation rather than in the moment. It's so hard for me to process everything in the heat of the conversation. But as I think back about how many things I missed, it was pretty clear that I need to have Ryan back on the podcast to continue where we left off. It was a good conversation. It's not radio, it's real. This is why it works. We barely scratch the surface of what were some interesting ideas and memories. To get an insight into the interview process from his angle was valuable to me in many ways. I'm always trying to break down what smart, interesting people are doing with their daily lives and how they focus in and do work that is unique and exceptional. If I had a hobby, I think these conversations fit the feeling. I enjoyed this one.
